Overview
Set in the savage lands of Conan the Barbarian, Conan Exiles is a survival sandbox from Funcom that blends base-building, brutal combat and an extensive crafting system. You start with nothing and must claw your way up from mud huts to towering fortresses.
Gameplay
The core survival loop is deeply satisfying. Gathering, crafting and building feel rewarding, and the thrall system – capturing NPCs to fight and craft for you – adds a unique layer not seen in many survival games. PvP servers provide some of the most chaotic and thrilling moments the genre has to offer.
Combat
Combat is weighty and deliberate. Stamina management is crucial and fights can be intense, though the animation jank can frustrate at times. Boss encounters inside dungeons are highlights of the experience.
Performance & Issues
Conan Exiles has a history of bugs and the learning curve is steep. Official servers can be plagued by lag and griefers. Private servers are strongly recommended for the best experience.
Verdict
Conan Exiles is a rough gem. If you can overlook its technical shortcomings and find a good community, it offers hundreds of hours of savage, rewarding survival gameplay that few games match.
