Automobilista is the kind of game that the mainstream racing community frequently overlooks and the hardcore sim-racing community quietly treasures. Reiza Studios has crafted something genuinely special here, even if it rarely gets the attention it deserves.
Brazilian Motorsport in the Spotlight
The game's focus on Brazilian motorsport is its defining characteristic. Stock Car Brasil, Formula Truck, Kart racing, historic Formula cars — these are categories that most Western sim racers will be discovering for the first time, and they are absolutely worth discovering. The trucks in particular are a hilarious and demanding class that will immediately become a favourite.
Physics Built on rFactor
Reiza built Automobilista on a heavily modified rFactor engine and refined the physics to an excellent standard. Cars communicate clearly and reward committed driving. It lacks some of the layered detail of Assetto Corsa or iRacing, but it more than holds its own for enjoyable, challenging simulation racing.
Content & Value
The base game offers strong value, and the DLC packages add international content including IndyCar-style open wheelers and additional circuits. It is not as moddable as some competitors but the official content is consistently high quality.
Verdict
Automobilista deserves far more attention than it receives. If you are tired of the same content in the big racing titles and want something different, this is an excellent choice.
